How to play tennis

How to play Tennis

Tennis

It is a simple and interesting game though not that easy.

In this game we play on a court (It is a firm rectangular surface with a low net stretched across the center) which is made up of grass(small, thin grass),clay(Crushed red bricks)and synthetic. We play Tennis using a racket and some balls (both made up of plastics). There are two types of playing tennis, singles and doubles which we will come up on afterwards.

I will show you how to play tennis in some simple steps.

Prerequisites. :

  1. Choose a racket .Names of some reputed tennis racket manufacturers are Head,Wilson,Babolat. As a beginner you should choose the beginner rackets which are very cheap and don't go for professional ones.  Image result for tennis racquet
  2.   Buy a lot of balls around 5-8 balls.Best tennis ball manufacturer companies are Wilson,Dunlop,Head. Choose the manufacturer according to your budget as  there is not much difference between the quality of the balls .                                                                                             Image result for tennis balls
  3.  Find a tennis court which is nearest to your home .
  4. Get a pair of Tennis shoes,some shorts and t-shirts .

Alright now let's learn to play Tennis.

      1. Tennis is a very vigorous game.So before every training session you must warm up which you can do by just taking 3-5 rounds of jogging of the tennis court itself.
      2.  For the first week you are going to do the following : Bounce the ball on the court floor and dribble it using the racket.Try to improve the number of dribbles day by day, this will help in increasing your concentration and balance.
      3. Then the next week try to learn the forehand  that is by holding the racket in your dominating hand and holding the area between the grip and the face with the other hand , when the ball has crossed the net take the racket back with your dominating hand towards your body and keep the other arm at 90 degrees with the elbow now when the ball is close enough hit it with your racket.Don't forget to bend forward  while hitting the forehand and keep some distance between your two feet. Now try to practice the forehand for around one week to improve your accuracy. After that try to give the ball some direction by rolling the wrist and changing the direction of the racket. Practice this for another week, now you have learnt the basics of forehand.
      4. Another way of practice that will improve your accuracy, posture, concentration  is by doing shadows (hitting an imaginary  ball).
      5. Try to practice  shadows and hit balls everyday so that your continuity does not falter.
      6. Another important thing is the grip without which you will never be able to master the forehand.
      7. So as you see in the pic we should hold the index finger a little higher than the whole hand and its knuckle should be on the 3rd place(as in the pic).
